This Guide will provide some helpful tips for navigating word while drafting your memos and briefs.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard Shortcuts are helpful in drafting because they make work quicker and more efficient.  Shortcuts can be even more beneficial for attorneys who may need quick access to symbols like §, ¶, or ©.  

First, here are some general shortcuts that you may find helpful (For Mac, just replace Ctrl with Cmd):

  1. Ctrl + C: Copy selected text or item
  2. Ctrl + V: Paste copied text or item
  3. Ctrl + X: Cut selected text or item
  4. Ctrl + Z: Undo last action
  5. Ctrl + A: Select all text or items
  6. Ctrl + F: Find text within a document or webpage
  7. Ctrl + P: Print the current document
  8. Ctrl + S: Save the current document
  9. Ctrl + N: Open a new window or document
  10. Alt + Tab: Switch between open windows
  11. Windows key + D: Show desktop
  12. Windows key + E: Open File Explorer
  13. Windows key + L: Lock the computer
  14. Windows key + R: Open the Run dialog box
  15. Windows key + X: Open the Quick Link menu
